EURASTiP Capacity Building Foresight workshop: ENHANCING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MOBILITY IN AQUACULTURE EDUCATION BETWEEN SOUTH-EAST ASIA AND EUROPE
DATE: 18 NOVEMBER 2019
LOCATION: SERI PACIFIC HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA.
Aquaculture is one of the most important and rapidly expanding food production industries in the world. Excellent education underpins each person working in aquaculture and mobility opportunities as part of education programmes allow people to develop their professional, social and intercultural skills and to increase their employability. People who have taken part in an international mobility experience say they have a greater appreciation of other cultures and most report an improvement in their transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication. It is these transferable skills what most employers internationally are looking for when recruiting new talent.
Most of Europe’s imported seafood comes from south-east Asia, and both regions have a substantial interest in collaborating at an educational level too, to ensure that aquaculture education delivers the best employees for the aquaculture sector overall. Increased mobility opportunities between these two regions will strengthen international relationships, provide well-rounded employees for the growing aquaculture sector and increase new business cooperation.
How to enhance mobility opportunities in the aquaculture sector between these two regions is the topic that will be discussed at the 3rd EURASTiP Capacity Building Foresight workshop, which is hosted jointly alongside the International Fisheries Symposium 2019 that will take place in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) this November.
Do you have experience with mobility in the aquaculture sector, ideally (but not necessarily) between Europe and south-east Asia, and would you like to share your insights to help the sector improve? Please join us! Your mobility experience can be as part of education programmes (both students and educators), but also industry exchanges, research exchanges, etc. We love to hear about your challenges, opportunities and best practice examples!
