The six specific objectives and the work programme of EURASTiP will be divided across six pillars or “work packages” (WP). Five are designed to deliver specific project objectives, whilst a sixth concentrates and matters of project administration and coordination.
Each work package is led by one of the consortium partners, with input from other project partners where relevant. Although autonomous, work package leaders provide progress updates on their identified deliverables to the project coordinator and those involved with dissemination (WP5) to ensure partners and the public are kept up to date.

The six EURASTiP pillars are:

WP 1

Establish & Strengthen National Pilot Platforms (NPP) in Asia

Work Package 1 aims to:

  • Characterise and map stakeholder interactions in Asian partner countries
  • Assist the establishment of NPPs in each Asian partner country
  • National working groups established by each NPP to contribute to 2030 Vision and Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA)
  • Events and demonstrations of existing best practice in relation to NPP activities
  • Roadmap models developed to establish similar NPPs throughout SE Asia

WP 2

Innovative Education, Training & Capacity Building

The aim is to consolidate existing EU-SE Asian collaborations in the field of Aquaculture Education and Training as well as enhancing collaboration through the support of innovative workshops, exchanges and new material development.  This will be achieved through:

  • Aligning EU-South-East Asian Capacity Building
  • EU-ASIA Capacity Building – Best Practice Collation and Analysis
  • Implement an “Educators” Capacity Building Exchange Programme
  • Capacity Building through the Development and Sharing of Innovative Training Material for Sustainable Aquaculture Production

WP 3

Aligning Standards and Certification

Objectives of WP3 are to analyse, compare and harmonize existing seafood standards and certification schemes in Asia and Europe, and to develop an improvement pathway framework for aquaculture sustainability.  We will achieve this through:

  • Validation of issues in EU-Asia trade
  • Benchmarking (national) certification schemes
  • Developing an Improvement Pathway Framework
  • Social Sustainability
  • Moving towards Area-Based certification

WP 4

WP4 aims to increase the amount of strategic collaborations between European and SE-Asian aquaculture, for long term partnerships of mutual benefit.  The principle objectives of this work package will be to:

  • Facilitate  participation of European industry & research in SE-Asian aquaculture
  • Implement Researcher capacity-building exchange programme
  • Establish industry collaborations – Two-way industry internships

WP 5

Dissemination, Legacy, Impact Management

With WP5, we will ensure that EURASTiP is known by all stakeholders in Europe and SE Asia as being the key platform for international cooperation and structured multi-stakeholder dialogue for the development of sustainable aquaculture.  The EURASTiP consortium will:

  • Assess impact on aquaculture  development policies
  • Legacy – look to assure continued functioning beyond initial funding
  • Ensure project liaison – maximising impact of related regional/national/international initiatives

WP 6

Project Coordination & Administration

Less public facing, WP6 will plan & manage resources to achieve EURASTIP objectives, milestones and deliverables, including contractual, financial and IP aspects of the project.  WP6 will also provide support for intra-Consortium communication for transparent and efficient messaging and discussions and organisation/support for:

  • Project Management Board
  • Event/Workshop Coordination Committee
  • Publications/Communication Committee
